India heads into the Commonwealth Games 2026 with high expectations in athletics, as the country looks to continue its impressive run on the international stage.

The Indian contingent features 32 track and field athletes, led by Olympic and World Champion Neeraj Chopra. On the track, one of the biggest names to watch is Gurindervir Singh, India’s fastest man, who recently became the first Indian sprinter to break the 10.10-second barrier in the men’s 100m.

India enjoyed an excellent athletics campaign at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, winning eight medalsone gold, four silver, and three bronze.

With several athletes in strong form and a balanced squad across track and field events, India will be aiming to equal or surpass that medal tally in Glasgow.
