Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW), Varanasi a production unit of Indian Railways has announced Sports Quota vacancies for 2026-27. Just like the Western Railway recruitment, this one also has no written exam selection is entirely trial-based, along with document verification and medical fitness checks.
This is a smaller drive compared to Western Railway’s 64 posts BLW has released only 25 vacancies, spread across four sports: Basketball, Volleyball, Wrestling, and Handball (Men only).
Here’s the sport-wise breakdown:
- Basketball – 6 posts
- Volleyball – 7 posts
- Wrestling – 4 posts
- Handball (Men) – 8 posts
These are further split by pay level: 15 posts at Pay Level-1, 8 posts at Pay Level-2, and 2 posts at Pay Level-5, with salaries ranging from around ₹18,000 to ₹29,200 per month.
Eligibility:
- Age: 18 to 25 years, as on 1 January 2027
- Educational qualification: Class 10/ITI/NAC for Level 1, Class 12 for Level 2, or a graduate degree for Level 5, along with the required sports achievement for your event
- Candidates need recognized sports achievements and supporting certificates as specified for each discipline and level

The process is entirely online through BLW’s official website blw.indianrailways.gov.in. You’ll need to register, fill in your personal, educational, and sports achievement details, upload the required documents (photograph, signature, certificates), and pay the applicable fee.
