Anahat Singh has created history by becoming the first Indian ever to win the World Junior Squash Championship. In the final, the 18-year-old defeated Egypt’s Ruqayya Salem 3-0 to lift the prestigious world title.
What’s even more impressive is that this isn’t a one-off performance. Over the last few years, Anahat hasn’t just been performing consistently—she has been dominating junior squash around the world. At just 18 years old, the maturity and confidence she showed throughout the tournament were truly remarkable.
In 2026 alone, she has already won major international titles, including the Indian Open in Mumbai and the Squash On Fire Open in Washington, before adding the biggest prize of her career—the World Junior Championship.
Squash is still a relatively under-followed sport in India, but Anahat has the potential to change that. If she continues on this path, competes for another 15–20 years, and wins one or two Olympic medals, she could inspire an entirely new generation and bring squash into the mainstream in India.
