The AIU Sports Season 2026–27 is set to begin earlier this year, starting on 29 August 2026 (National Sports Day). The season will continue until 31 March 2027.
The Opening Ceremony will be held at KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, with the Athletics (Men & Women) championships marking the start of the new season.
Just like the CBSE Games and SGFI Games, the All India University Games (AIU) are the next level of competition for university students who want to build their sporting careers. It provides athletes with the opportunity to showcase their talent, compete against the best university athletes in the country, and make an impact at the national level.
If you are a student, there are many opportunities available throughout your sporting journey. You can start with District-level competitions, then progress to the CBSE Games or SGFI Games during school. Once you enter university, you become eligible to compete in the All India University Games (AIU).
Apart from these, there are several other major competitions, including the Khelo India School Games, Khelo India Youth Games, Khelo India University Games, and championships organised by various sports associations and federations.
For example, if you are a track and field athlete, you will also get opportunities to participate in several state-level and national-level open competitions and trials throughout the year.

Important Things You Should Know
- The AIU certificate is valuable for government job applications, participation in national-level competitions, and can also help when applying for sports scholarships.
- You cannot participate as an individual athlete. You must be registered through your university and represent your university to compete in the AIU Championships.
