Major Blow for India! Judoka Arun Kumar Dropped from CWG 2026 Squad After Positive NADA Dope Test

Just hours before the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2026, Team India received a major setback.

Indian judoka Arun Kumar has been dropped from the Commonwealth Games squad after testing positive in an out-of-competition NADA dope test. Following the adverse analytical finding, he was declared ineligible to compete.

As there is no replacement allowed in the men’s 73kg category, India’s contingent has been reduced from 125 athletes to 124.

Arun Kumar was one of India’s medal prospects in judo, making this a significant blow for Team India ahead of the Games.

The Indian Army Havildar has enjoyed a successful career. His major achievements include:

  • Gold Medal – 2023 Macau Junior Asian Cup
  • Silver Medal – 2022 Asian Junior Championships
  • Bronze Medal – 2023 Senior National Judo Championships
  • Multiple medals at national-level judo competitions

Despite this setback, Team India will be hoping for a strong start at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
