The draw for the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup has officially been announced for both the men’s and women’s tournaments.
India’s men’s team has been placed in Group D alongside Pakistan men’s national field hockey team, England men’s national field hockey team, and Wales men’s national field hockey team. This group promises some exciting and intense matches.
The women’s draw has also been announced. The India women’s national field hockey team has been placed in Pool D with China women’s national field hockey team, England women’s national field hockey team, and South Africa women’s national field hockey team.
The 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup will be held in Amsterdam and Wavre from 15 to 30 August 2026.
For the first time in history, both the Men’s and Women’s Hockey World Cups will be held together at the same time, making it a historic moment for international hockey.
Tournament Details
- Event: 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup
- Dates: 14–30 August 2026
- Hosts: Belgium and Netherlands
- Teams:
- 16 Men’s teams
- 16 Women’s teams
Both tournaments will be played at the same venues, including the famous Wagener Stadium and the stadium in Wavre.
This could be a golden opportunity for both the Indian men’s and women’s teams to win the Hockey World Cup.
The Indian women’s team has been performing exceptionally well recently. In the 2026 FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup Qualifiers held in Hyderabad, the Indian team topped their group and finished as runner-up, showing strong form and confidence heading into the World Cup. Many fans believe this team has the potential to win the 2026 Hockey World Cup.
However, the situation is slightly different for the Indian men’s team. Earlier this month, Team India lost six consecutive matches in the FIH Pro League, which shows that the team still has some gaps to fill before the World Cup.
The men’s team will face tough challenges in the tournament, but Indian fans trust that the team will make a strong comeback before the World Cup begins.
As hockey fans, we hope that both the Indian men’s and women’s teams will perform at their best and bring the Hockey World Cup trophy home in 2026.
