Karnataka State Senior Athletics Meet is going to start, and young athletes get the chance to show their talent in this season and make their PB and season best, which can help them for the next competition.
This State Meet is not just another local event it will actually serve as the selection trial for the Senior Open National Athletics Championships 2026, which is scheduled to be held in Delhi this October. So whoever performs well here has a real shot at making it to Nationals.

For entries, every athlete has to register individually through the official Indian Athletics website no one else can do it on their behalf. The entry fee is 500₹ per athlete, and the last date to submit entries is 16th September 2026, so athletes shouldn’t wait till the last moment.
For those competing in Pole Vault, that event will be held on 17th September, starting 9 AM, at Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.
The important points every athlete and parent should keep in mind:
- AFI UID number is compulsory — without it, you simply cannot participate, so get that sorted well before the deadline.
- Bib numbers will be given out only one day before the event, not earlier, so don’t panic if you don’t have it in hand right away.
- Participating in this State Meet is mandatory for all athletes — this isn’t an optional warm-up meet.
- If an athlete has already qualified, they still need to compulsorily take part in either Indian Open Meets, AFI-conducted meets between January and September, or the Inter State Championships.
- To be picked, athletes need to hit the qualifying marks — whether that’s in this State Meet, the Indian Open Meets, or other AFI meets.
And lastly, U-23 age group athletes are also allowed to take part in this meet, so it’s not restricted to only senior category athletes.
Overall, this meet is a big opportunity for athletes to peak at the right time, hit good marks, and set themselves up for Nationals in Delhi.
