Income Tax Sports Quota Recruitment 2026: 82 Vacancies in 17 Sports Eligibility, Sports List & How to Apply

The Income Tax Department, West Bengal & Sikkim has announced Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 for eligible sportspersons. A total of 82 vacancies are available for Tax Assistant and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) posts. Both men and women sportspersons can apply under this recruitment. The recruitment covers 17 different sports, including Athletics, Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, Badminton, Swimming, Chess and others.

The age limit is different for both posts. Candidates applying for Tax Assistant must be between 18 and 27 years, while candidates applying for MTS must be between 18 and 25 years. The Tax Assistant post comes under Pay Level 4, with a pay scale of ₹25,500 to ₹81,100. The MTS post comes under Pay Level 1, with a pay scale of ₹18,000 to ₹56,900. Candidates should also check the official notification for the applicable age relaxation rules.

Athletics has the highest number of vacancies with 18 posts, followed by Football with 9 vacancies. Cricket and Kabaddi have 6 vacancies each. The official notification also provides detailed requirements and event or position-wise information for different sports.

Who Can Apply?

This recruitment is meant for meritorious sportspersons who have achieved the required standards in the eligible sports. Candidates must meet the prescribed sports qualification, educational qualification and age limit for the post they are applying for.

Being a sportsperson alone is not enough. Applicants should check whether their sporting achievements and certificates meet the requirements mentioned in the official notification. Candidates should also make sure that all the required documents are available before submitting the application.

How to Apply?

The application has to be submitted in the prescribed format given in Annexure-A of the official notification. Candidates should fill in the application correctly and send it to the Income Tax Department by post or courier.

Candidates can send the application through Normal Post, Speed Post, Registered Post or Courier. The envelope should also mention the required recruitment wording and the post for which the candidate is applying.

Along with the physical application, candidates are also required to submit their details through the online Google Form mentioned in the official notification. Therefore, applicants should complete both the postal application and the online form.

The application must reach the department on or before 30 September 2026. Candidates are advised not to wait until the last few days, as postal delays can affect the submission.
