India Hold Scotland to 2–2 Draw in FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifiers

The Indian Women’s Hockey Team played out a 2–2 draw against Scotland in the FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifiers in Hyderabad. It was a brilliant and intense hockey match from both sides, and the result at the end of the game reflected how closely fought the contest was.

India came into this match with confidence after starting their campaign with a 4–0 win against Uruguay, and it was expected to be another crucial game for the team.

Adding to the excitement, P. V. Sindhu, India’s badminton queen, was present in the stands to watch the match and support the Indian women’s hockey team. She also met the players after the match, showing her support for the team.

The match started with high intensity from both sides. Scotland scored the first goal in the 6th minute, taking an early lead in the game. During the first quarter, Scotland looked slightly better and created pressure on the Indian defense. India also tried to create chances but were unable to find the equaliser in the opening quarter.

However, India responded strongly at the start of the second quarter. The team earned a penalty corner, and Navneet Kaur converted it brilliantly to level the score for India.

After the equaliser, Scotland tried to build pressure again and created a few chances, but the Indian defence managed to hold firm. Then, just a minute before halftime, Sunelita Toppo found the back of the net with a clinical penalty corner conversion to give India the lead heading into the break.

India started the second half a little slow, and Scotland took advantage of the moment. The Scottish side attacked quickly and managed to score the equaliser early in the third quarter, bringing the score to 2–2.
