47-Year-Old Mother Runs Barefoot in Saree to Support Her Daughters’ Education

They say that no one can ever match a mother’s love.

47-year-old Ramabai from Maharashtra ran a marathon for her daughters’ education because she wanted to use the prize money to help pay their fees.

Ramabai works in the kitchen at an academy. After losing her husband in an accident, she has been taking care of her two daughters and their education on her own. She did not have enough money to pay their fees. Then she found out about a local marathon where the winner would get ₹3,000 as prize money. So, she decided to take part in the race.

Ramabai arrived at the marathon wearing a simple saree and slippers. But during the race, her slippers kept coming off and started slowing her down.

Instead of stopping, she took off her slippers, held them in her hands and continued running barefoot. She kept running and eventually finished first, winning the race and taking home the ₹3,000 prize money. For someone else, ₹3,000 might not seem like a lot. But for Ramabai, that money could help her pay for her daughters’ education. She was not running for fame or a big prize. She was simply running because her daughters needed her.And that is what makes her story so special.

Ramabai’s story is not just about winning a marathon. It is about a mother who, despite all her struggles, continues to fight for a better future for her children.
